Arrested Drunk Guy Sings Bohemian Rhapsody

The Illustrated man, From My Personal Journal

I don't normally post anything that reflects upon myself as a person, usually just things that grab my attention. I felt the urge to share this little piece of me though, because I believe it's something that every one of us can relate to...
From my own personal journal:

"Sometimes when life changes too fast, it makes my soul lonely. Even if I am in the most beautiful place with the the one that I love and life is just glorious. Sometimes it just feels like something is missing. As if I left a piece of my heart in every place I have ever been and a piece of my mind and soul with every beautiful person I've met along the way.

Maybe the only reason I feel this way is because the memories are all I have to hold on to. Photos and trinkets and thoughts are all I keep with me. I can't keep places I've been in my pocket or people on my bookshelf. All I am left with is a longing... As if these things aren't real and the people were just passerby that became leading characters in my dreams.

It reminds me (the feeling) of an excerpt from Ray Bradbury's 'The Illustrated Man.' I never want to be so cynical or closed off from memories or the world, but the underlying message is a simple human truth. It is as follows:

'You see, you have no mental evidence. That's what i want, a mental evidence I can feel. I don't want physical evidence, proof you have to go out and drag in. I want evidence you can carry in your mind and always touch and smell and feel but there's no way to do that. In order to believe in a thing, you've got to carry it with you. You can't carry the Earth, or a man in your pocket. I want a way to do that, carry things with me always, so i can believe in them.  How clumsy to have to go to all the trouble of going out and bringing something terribly physical to prove something. I hate physical things because they can be left behind and become impossible to believe in.'

I sometimes wish I could bring all of these places and people and experiences together; A cosmic party that is simply my life. I believe to be content and happy in life, is to not yearn for these physical things, but to embody them. The belief that all of the experiences you've had, places you've been and people you've met and loved, are what make up YOU, should bring peace.
Instead of 'going out and bringing something terribly physical to prove something,' emanate it through yourself and how you interact with the world. Let your past be your passport to your future.
Oh, the people you will meet and the places you will go. Entwine all the moments to make up YOU, and never let it burn out.... or fade away."

Kimbra - "Settle Down" [Official Music Video]

Gotye - Hearts A Mess

Pick apart
The pieces of your heart
And let me peer inside
Let me in
Where only your thoughts have been
Let me occupy your mind
As you do mine

You have lost
Too much love
To fear, doubt and distrust
(it's not enough)
You just threw away the key
To your heart

You don't get burned
('Cause nothing gets through)
It makes it easier
(Easier on you)
But that much more difficult for me
To make you see

Love ain't fair
So there you are
My love

Your heart's a mess
You won't admit to it
It makes no sense
But I'm desperate to connect
And you, you can't live like this

Love ain't save
You won't get hurt if you stay chaste
So you can wait
But i don't wanna waste my love

Man Flies Like a Bird Flapping His Own Wings

The following article is from Gizmodo
" I'm really amazed by this video, because I always dreamed about doing this: watch Dutch mechanical engineer Jarno Smeets take off by flapping wings of his own invention—just like a real bird! It's uncanny.
He developed the wings over an 8-month period. They use a special motion mechanism that is controlled by special software controlled by a haptic system. This allows him to literally start flapping his arms while running to take off and fly. Like a real bird! (Yes, I'm going to keep repeating that because this amazes me).
Like a modern Leonardo da Vinci, Jarno's took notes from nature. His inspiration was the albatross, which he closely observed to learn his take of technique:
Just like birds, humans have to amplify their locomotion to get control and get familiar with their new body expansion—the Wings. In my conception this is something which is independent of any hardware of software problem.
So he payed attention and learned how to amplify the motion. It was a success.
This first test took him just over a distance of 328 feet (100 meters) but obviously he's planning to go higher and farther than that. Jarno is ecstatic, he says: "I have always dreamed about this. But after 8 months of hard work, research and testing it all payed off."
I completely understand his excitement. This has been of dream of mine since I was a little kid. Just flap my winds and start hovering above the ground. Flap some more and start going higher and higher. [Human Bird Wings]'

Niagra Falls Freezes 1848

"THE NUMBER one question everyone asks about this set of images is, "Does Niagara Falls ever really freeze over like this?" And the answer is yes. During an extended winter cold snap a hardened crust of ice can accumulate over parts of the falls — American Falls in particular — creating an amazing, naturally-formed ice sculpture, if you will, that has been known to reach a thickness of 50 feet. Neither the river nor the falls ever freezes solid, mind you. The water continues to flow beneath the ice at all times, albeit reduced to a mere trickle on rare occasions when ice jams block the river above the falls."
The photo above: a sepia-toned photograph listed as an Internet find on the website of the Niagara Falls Public Library, is of unknown date and origin, according to the documentation. It also appears on the Niagara Falls Live website, where its placement implies it was taken during the historic freeze of March 1848, when the falls actually "went dry" for a few days due to the formation of an ice dam on Lake Erie.
